Touched By An Angel

Updated: Aug 30, 2019

Love arrives and in its train come ecstasies old memories of pleasure ancient histories of pain. Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls.

The word ‘angel’ comes from the Greek word ‘angelos’, meaning messenger. According to the Old Testament, angels are divine ministers, created to carry out God’s will.

We are all assigned a special angel to guide us through tough times – our guardian angels.

On a higher order are archangels, often seen with bigger wings because they are invested with more power. The Catholic Church recognizes three archangels: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. The Book of Enoch speaks of seven archangels – one for each day of the week.

These are

  • Gabriel: (Sunday),

  • Michael: (Monday),

  • Raphael (Tuesday),

  • Uriel: (Wednesday),

  • Raguel: (Thursday),

  • Ramiel: (Friday),

  • and Sariel: (Saturday).

With their help, we can be aware of our emotions, express our gifts and overcome challenges. They are the first healing touch over any physical or emotional wound on our bodies or our souls.

We have three orders of angels protecting us – angels, archangels and our personal guardian angels. They are promises of love made to us by God. Every-time we think we are ‘lucky’, it is a sign that they are around.

Whether it is a falling book that narrowly misses hitting us, or miraculously finding some money we really needed, these faithful airy beings never leave our sides.

They are the root of intuition, premonitions and what we often call ‘the sixth sense.

Very often we take a liking to a person for no apparent reason; we feel connected with strangers. Our souls seem to be in affinity with theirs: that is the divine will at work.

Our guardian angels are the positive vibes that keep us connected with the flow of the universe, and in touch with our deepest desires. They help us remain open to the possibility of true love, and communicate with us when we block ourselves from its reception, in any way.

Although angels carry masculine names, and are pictorially represented as the perfection of masculine beauty, they have sensitive natures, and are also the symbol of purity and compassion. Yet they have inner strength – such as the Archangel Gabriel, who is seen outside the Garden of Eden with a flaming of sword in his hand.

It is true that we have protectors every minute of every day, guarding our treasured relationships from being injured, and preserving the most important relationship of all with sanctity: your relationship with yourself.

When you feel warm and happy within, your guardian angel is supposed to be nearby. It can be a warm breeze, or the whiff of a sweet fragrance. Or a hushed voice asking you to be careful.

It is our responsibility to align ourselves with the positivity that the light of our souls brings. But to stay awake when the magical moment of communication arises is of utmost importance. In every relationship it is necessary to remain connected in spirit with your partner.

Whether you are facing distresses or not, harmony lies in compatibility. The divine messengers of God’s will work towards protecting and creating this harmony.

We are weaned from our timidity In the flush of love’s light we dare be brave And suddenly we see that love costs all we are and will ever be. Yet it is only love which sets us free.
